While our capital city Amsterdam was flooded with people dressed in pink visiting the annual Gay Pride, the people dressed in black found their way to the Melkweg; witnessing one of America’s best metal acts of modern times, Lamb Of God.

The only booked support act was The Lucifer Principle. This Dutch band shared stages with renowned acts like Devildriver, Entombed and Obituary in the past. Tonight they got to play for even more people in an early filled venue. TLP performed conform their usual standard; good crowd interaction and trying to put the place on fire. The sound wasn’t really clean this time, giving it a more brutal tone and a fatter groove - which is actually the thing I like about them. Just drink beer and headbang to their self-proclaimed stomping death metal. Yet I didn’t see a lot movement at the dance floor. It obviously seemed that the young kids only wanted to see Lamb Of God and had no real interest in another band doing a different thing. A pity, ‘cause with their new album Welcome To Bloodshed, this band became even more solid. (Mindsaver)

For the first time Lamb Of God played the Max venue of the Melkweg in Amsterdam. Originally the band was supposed to play the old (and smaller) venue but several weeks before the show they got switched to the bigger venue with a capacity of 1500. And thanks to this change the band was able to attract more than 1000 people which resulted in a pretty full venue. The band missed their guitarist Mark Morton, due to the upcoming birth of his first child, and was replaced by Unearth guitarist Buz McGrath. And the band once again proved their status being one of the bigger American metal bands out there. From the first second until the last second the band went with full force playing songs like “Laid To Rest”, “Redneck”, “11th Hour”, “Omerta” and from their latest effort “Set To Fail” and “In Your Words”. During the song “Walk With Me In Hell” frontman Randy even walked over the heads of the audience in front of the stage and the moshpit was going strong the entire set. And even though all bands say they love to play in the Netherlands I must say normally the audience is pretty mellow. Tonight Lamb Of God proved there is some spirit in the crowd and they managed to get the moshpit moving from the stage to the PA. Buz did a good job filling in but he was clearly focussing really hard playing the songs perfectly. (BuzzinHornet)
